A wartime spy thriller in which codebreaker Li Ningyu and the flamboyant Gu Xiaomeng are trapped in a mansion by a Japanese hunt for a mole. The bond between the two women, drawn from Mai Jia's novel, is widely read as sapphic even though the series keeps it unstated.
